Nearly 18 percent of the world’s population lives in India, so the world’s response to their plight will set a precedent for the value we place on women and girls both in India and abroad. We as a society need to invest in organizations that focus on women, girls, and rural communities to ensure they are not held back. Organizations have been doubling down on COVID relief with supportive infrastructure for COVID isolation and care centers, medical supplies, a hotline to support bereaved loved ones, and more. It is now more vital than ever to collectively recommit to our work of empowering women of all ages across the globe.
In addition, pertinent studies from other centers, mentioned as references in these publications, were reviewed. Crime against women such as rape, acid throwing, dowry killings, honour killings, and the forced prostitution of young girls has been reported in India. Police records in India show a high incidence of crimes against women. The National Crime Records Bureau reported in 1998 that by 2010 growth in the rate of crimes against women would exceed the population growth rate. Earlier, many crimes against women were not reported to police due to the social stigma attached to rape and molestation. Official statistics show a dramatic increase in the number of reported crimes against women.

The result is that the Indian Constitution today has given to women the equal status with men. All professions are open to both of them with merit as the only criterion of selection.
